When Carly and Jackie first crossed paths with Poppy, a pit bull, she was found lying on a sidewalk in Mexico, heavily pregnant.
Initially, Poppy was a bit wary, but as Carly approached her, Poppy leaned into her, signaling the beginning of a beautiful bond.
Carly and Jackie immediately took Poppy to the vet, comforting her and assuring her safety along the way.
Poppy was held at the vet’s for two days, where she received a thorough checkup and a flea bath.
During Poppy’s stay at the vet’s, Carly and Jackie made it a point to visit her daily. The most heartwarming moment occurred when they were bringing Poppy home from the vet.
Poppy, ecstatic to be in the care of her rescuers, hugged Jackie, who was driving, all the way home.
She clung onto Jackie, smiling the entire time, a sight too endearing for words.
Upon reaching Carly and Jackie’s home, Poppy made herself comfortable instantly.
Jackie recalls, “She kind of came in the house and jumped on the couch and laid down. She’s real chill and doesn’t like to do anything crazy. She just likes to sleep. That’s pretty much what she did when we brought her home.”
Poppy went into labor from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.
While Jackie had never delivered puppies before, Carly had some experience.
However, they were taken by surprise when Poppy gave birth to nine puppies. “They just kept coming!” exclaimed Jackie.
According to Dog Leash Pro, a pit bull litter can have between five and 10 puppies, sometimes even up to 14.
Poppy proved to be an excellent mother, showering her puppies with love and care.
Carly and Jackie quickly fell in love with this big pit bull family.
“They’ve made my days a lot happier,” Jackie shared.
The challenge, however, was to find loving forever homes for all the puppies. Jackie and Carly were successful in finding homes for each and every one of Poppy’s puppies.
But when it came to Poppy, they had a different plan.
Jackie and Carly decided to provide a loving home for Poppy themselves.
Jackie said, “I’m a believer that you get the dog that you need when you need them. She’s so sweet, she’s the best dog ever. She really is.”
Poppy’s heartwarming story was shared by The Dodo and garnered over 20 million views.
The comment section was filled with praises for Poppy’s sweet nature and the loving environment she and her puppies were provided.
One commenter wrote, “So glad she was rescued and given a forever home. Glad her puppies came into the world in a safe and loving environment too.”
Another added: “Some pitties are just born to be loving and sweet. It looks like this momma pittie certainly is!”
