40 lb cat surrendered for his weight finds home he’s always wanted

If you have pets, then you know the feeling of wanting to spoil them.

It’s true, seeing them happy and excited with toys, food, and treats is really adorable, but giving too much can lead to negative results.

This is why our vets always remind us to prioritize our pet’s weight and health. If we love them, then we’d understand why.

Weight management is very important.

By making sure that we give them adequate and healthy foods and exercise, then we prevent a wide range of health and weight problems.

Maintaining a healthy weight will reduce the risk of obesity-related problems for your pets.

The most common issues are joint problems, diabetes, and heart disease.

Aside from these, we don’t want to see our pets have a hard time moving around, right?

You might have already heard of the quote that your pet’s health mirrors yours, and we think there is truth to that.

Everyone felt sorry for poor Patches.

The first thing they did was to examine the cat. He weighed a lot and was already considered obese.

They knew that with his weight, he could already have been suffering from many illnesses.

On April 19, 2023, the shelter posted an adorable photo of one of their shelter workers and Patches, and it said:

“Did you wake up today and say, “Let’s adopt the largest cat anyone has ever seen”? If so, we have the cat for you. Meet Patches; all 40.3 POUNDS of him! He’s been regulated to a very special diet, is on an exercise plan and is very sweet.”

They also said that Patches has been neutered, tested, and chipped.

This meant that the shelter was just waiting for a perfect match and Patches was ready to go to his forever home.

Their post went viral, and they were busy that day.

The shelter received so many calls and e-mails from people who wanted to adopt Patches.

After a thorough investigation, they found the perfect match – a grandmother of two, a woman named Kay Ford.

According to Ford, her daughter sent her the social media post from the shelter, and when she saw Patches, she knew she had to get her.

She immediately contacted the shelter and went there as soon as she could.

“When I rounded the corner at Richmond Animal Care and Control, to see him on his bed, on the floor, I just was like, ‘Oh, my Lord.’ He’s like … half of a whiskey barrel. Let’s put it that way,” Ford recalled.
